As the largest snow storm in over a century rolled into DC, it was business as usual for the members of “The Heights”. The normal barrage of medical locals were supplemented by a wide variety of snow induced emergencies. Fallen trees, collapsed buildings, stuck vehicles, wire, water leaks, alpha cut fingers and the occasional fire where all part of the job description during this storm. At one point during the storm Engine 30s quarters were home to Engine 30, Engine 62, Truck 17, Ambulance 30, Medic 30, Ambulance 27, Medic 27, Ambulance 52, Humvee 30 and Battalion Fire Chief 8. Members took a beating as the house averaged over 60 runs a day for the duration of the storm.
