Just after 11:30 am units from DC Fire Department were called to the 4900 Blk Hayes Street NE for a reported house fire. Truck 17 was first arriving and reported a one story house with heavy fire throughout the house, with a corrected address of 725 49th Place NE. After clearing a medical local, Engine 27 responded first due, due to Engine 30 was OOS for testing at 4 Engine. As the crew from Engine 27 was making an attack on the fire from the front porch, the porch roof collapsed briefly trapping the firefighters. One member received an ankle injury and was transported to a local hospital. The other two members were uninjured. Units tried to make another attack on the fire but were force to evacuate the structure due to the conditions were deteriorating inside the house and the possibility of another collapse they where evacuated from the structure and had to attack the fire from the outside.
