Just as the members from Engine 30, Truck 17, and Battalion Fire Chief #2 were sitting down to enjoy Firefighter Carroll's bountiful probation dinner, a box alarm was struck for the apartment fire at 5210 Just Street NE. Engine 27 1st due arrived and reported a 3 story apartment building with fire showing from the top floor. Units were then advised that there were possibly persons trapped. Truck 17 took the front position but had to utilize a ground ladder on side D for roof access due to wires. Engine 30 took their 2nd due position as best they could and proceeded to back up Engine 27 on the top floor. Fire had auto-exposed into the soffet area and an extensive overhaul operation ensued. Firefighter Carroll not only provided the brothers with a Steak, Salmon, Shrimp, Salad and Baked Potato dinner, but he also supplied the water as the fill in wagon driver today.
