There was certainly cause for celebration as Firefighter Hakim Carroll of Engine 30 walked into “The Heights” station for a visit. Just 18 hours earlier Firefighter Carroll suffered a gunshot wound to the left arm while on a medical local at 4800 East Capital Street. The members of 30 Engine and 17 Truck were all very excited to greet the courageous Carroll and welcomed him back with hugs, handshakes, and of course practical jokes and shameless ridicule. Firefighter Carroll took part in several interviews with local area news stations during his visit. Firefighter Hakim Carroll upheld the finest traditions of the fire service and the District of Columbia Fire Department throughout the entire ordeal and we are proud to have him as a member of “The Heights” 49th Street Station. We wish him a speedy recovery and a fast return. It will be impossible to fill his place on Ambulance 30, but we will keep the seat warm. See you soon Hakim.
